I could have sworn the comment I replied to was a lot shorter than the one I wound up replying to *scratches head* I need to not comment while exhausted.

NOW I get that you were talking about the 2nd-gen. When I was reading I honestly was thinking g=gig and chalk it up to my being completely and thoroughly worn out. Whoops!

It doesn't really run apps in the background actively for things like the twitter apps, AIM, Palringo, Y!M, etc. but there are some that will run in the background if they have the option to. Those are few and far between and it doesn't bother me, personally, because I don't keep apps running. But I can see how that would bother others who need to have certain things up and running in the background.

All I remember about the Nokia phone was Pip chewing through the charger cord and Rick made it work again LOL so that Pip could come off her Time Out

Lol. 2g refers to the 2nd generation which doesn't have 3g capabilities, and is even more limited as it doesn't have video capabilities nor MMS messaging. Generally with the current iPhones they're referred to as the 3g or 3gs. :)

You're silly, you know that? My review is on the 2G iPhone, which is the version that came out before yours. So yes, your iPhone now has video capabilities, which was addressed due its lack in the previous versions, though to me says a lot about the phone as a whole.

This is the 3rd release and it took them 3 tries to get it right? The second release of the MyTouch included more memory and a 3.5mm jack, which comparatively are small additions when compared to the lack of video capabilities and MMS messaging on the first two versions of the iPhone. However I still want to point out that the iPhone I was comparing the MyTouch to was not the generation you have, therefore there are significant differences, but regardless I still want to reiterate that this is the second release of the MyTouch as opposed to the third release of the iPhone. ;)

In any event I am still curious as to whether or not the newer version allows applications to run in the background or at least gives you a choice to run them in the background? That was a HUGE issue for me with my iPhone. I hated not having applications run unless I had them open. It defeated the purpose of AIM, Twitter, and Yahoo (just to name a few apps). That alone was enough for me to consider another phone, lol.

On a side note I have had a phone for more than a year, my old Blackberry Curve (the red one) and my European Nokia phone which I loved to pieces. ;)

Just wanted to make a note but the iPhone has video capabilities :) Maybe your version didn't but I've been playing with mine a lot lately and amusing myself with Charlie-antics.

Still, glad you gave it another try and that you seem to be happy with it. Maybe it will hold your interest for a whole 12 months or more ;)

I looooove my iPhone and haven't experienced any of the issues you mentioned.
