The Gamer in Me Is Coming Back Full Force

Jun 29, 2010
the-gamer-in-me-is-coming-back-full-force

Which is evident by my decision to not renew my WoW subscription, but instead start over from scratch. Part of the reason I left WoW is because it became a different game after the content was nerfed and I will admit that I NEVER could let go of vanilla WoW. As a result, I could never get back into the game. Sure, I’d play for a spell but then I’d get bored and stop playing for several months to years. I decided that in order to really pull away from my WoW roots, I needed to start over with a new account and roll a completely different faction. Yes, that’s right this Ally girl is going Horde. It should be an interesting transition but I’m excited about it nonetheless.

On a even better note, WoW works on Jenn‘s computer and despite a few camera issues, she was able to play today without issue, which excites me. She’s starting out as all of us started out with our first MMORPG, frustrated, annoyed and wanting to quit. I’m trying to be supportive by telling her that it’ll get better and she just has to barrel through it, but as we all know cause we’ve been there, it’s always much easier to quit then keep pressing on. I don’t want to give up on her though and it is my mission to get her to a place where she is comfortable playing. For those who went through a similar issue, comment here and let her know that we’ve all been there and it does pass.

So on top of WoW, I’m still playing Aion which should be interesting. I’ve never really played two MMORPGs simultaneously, but I figure I can play Aion during the day/afternoon while Robby is working and then WoW at night when he’s here so I can get the extra experience for playing with him. It works and will keep me occupied and I think for the sake of needing a break, I’ll try and fit a bit of Sims in there as well1. At the very least, I’ll have something else to do that doesn’t revolve around my refreshing Ecstasy and trying to find something to alleviate my boredom.

For those who are concerned, I am not an addict, nor have I ever gotten addicted. It’s just a means to pass the time with friends and to serve as a release we can afford– because as much as we’d love to fly out to Maui, our checking account says no way in hell. It’s sad, but true. I think I’ll go cry now.

1. Jennifer, this does not mean I will have less time for you, so don’t give me that pouty face or eyes. I love you and will talk to you every day as I have been.

Oh god – first starting WoW lolol. Just hang in there Jenn! It gets SO much better after investing some time into it – the story begins to make sense and so does you role and wtf you’re supposed to be doing lol. My ex tried to get me into the game and promised to help me understand it – he never did so I quit. I went back about 2 years later with my now husband in an attempt to save some money for our wedding and having someone there to help made it SO much easier. You have Angel and she is knowledged in the game and I will help in any way I possibly can as well to get you on your feet :)

Check out some addons on curse.com if you can to help you with questing and things like that. There are great quest helpers out there to guide you in the right direction. Also – when you reach level 15 – you can que in the dungeon finder and run with 4 other people and gain experience in dungeons.

It becomes a LOT of fun, but at first its a lot to take in and understand. Just hang in there and you will really grow to enjoy it – I promise :)

YAY! I think you’ll like playing Horde. I can’t get into Alliance even when I try. The highest I got as an Ally was around level 32.

I just like the quests better (LOL MINUS THE BARRENS) on the Horde side. This is seriously making me want to play WoW again too. Ahhhhh!

Anyway, I think I was fortunate because before I played WoW, I played Ragnarok and I already knew a lot of the Warcraft lore because I played Warcraft III and also my friend let me borrow a few of his Warcraft novels to read because he wanted to convince me to play Horde with them and so he gave me the novel about how Thrall became who he was. Before that I was absolutely against joining them on the Horde because we played Alliance on open beta and this was before Blood Elves so the only decent female race was Undead (or Troll’s if you don’t mind the hideous troll feet).

Anyway, once I got used to the controls, I didn’t have any problems! I was excited and overwhelmed by such a massive online world. Gosh, I miss those days when everyone had just started playing. I think that’s why WoW is like my baby. I’ve been playing since before it was released and I think I’ll always have a certain loyalty for it. Even though it’s not the same and sooooo many more people play now, it still holds a special place in my heart. :D

Hang in there, Jenn! You’ll get the hang of it and will start to enjoy it in no time! :D Angie´s last [type] ..Volunteering Gaming

Another one echoing in to say it gets easier! Then again, I spent more of my time following people around than seeing what the game was about. I actually still have no idea, but now it doesn’t interest me so I don’t mind too much!
