Holiday Wishes & the Obligatory What I Got Blog
Dec 27, 2010I won’t make the assumption that those reading my blog automatically celebrate Christmas so instead of saying “Merry Christmas”, I wish all of you a great holiday season. I personally do not celebrate Christmas so I do get a little peeved when people automatically assume I do1. The world is a melting pot so far be it from me to automatically assume you celebrate a particular holiday when that may not be the case. So as a show of respect, I say to you all happy holidays and you can fill in the “Holidays” part with whatever it is you celebrate.
In any event we ended up celebrating Solstice on the 22nd because Kristen left for San Diego on the 23rd to spend the holidays with her family. I didn’t really mind because I don’t celebrate Christmas so it wasn’t like OMG, we’re opening presents on the 22nd instead of the 25th. In fact it actually worked out well for me because I was able to take down the tree and clean up the night of the 25th and now that’s one less chore that I’m stuck doing. I’m all about being proactive this year instead of waiting until March2 to take the tree down.
In any event, the presents I received this year were actually the same types of presents I received last year but probably ten times worse. This time of year is very dangerous for someone like me– I tend to go a little over board with both the giving and receiving, but honestly at the end of the day it all boils down to the look of surprise on everyone’s face after they open the gifts I’ve given them. To me that’s what makes it worth it and no amount of money spent is ridiculous in my eyes.

These aren’t all of the DVDs/Blu-Rays. Some of the gifts trickled in after
the holiday and I was just too lazy to take another picture.
My gifts this year were:
- Barnes & Noble 3G/WiFi Nook
- $100 for Grammy
- Sword of Truth Books 4-9
- 24 S1-S7
- Smallville S8-S9
- Private Practice S1-S2
- Army Wives S2-S3
- Weeds S1-S5 on Blu-Ray (replaced my DVDs)
- True Blood S1 (replaced my DVDs)
- Legend of the Seeker Series (ended up with two copies of S1 because one was a gift– sorry Kristen!)
- Grey’s Anatomy S5-S6
- Heroes S3-S4
- Vampire Diaries S1
- Supernatural S5
- Glee S1
- House S6
- Castle S1-S2
- Dollhouse S2
- Modern Family S1
- Bones S5
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine Blu-Ray
- I Love Lucy Series
- Prince of Persia Blu-Ray
- Legion Blu-Ray
- The Invention of Lying
- 2TB Hard Drive
- Pearl necklace
I believe that’s it. We may tack on Sims 3: Late Night to that if I can find it for a price I’m willing to pay… oh and then there’s the possible hair cut, style, and color I’m contemplating as well. But yes, as you can see this time of the year is very dangerous for someone such as myself when there are some awesomely good deal on DVDs both movies and TV shows. I try and reign myself in but I seem to always fail at that game. Despite that I’m happy with what I got and you know what I don’t even really count the Blu-Ray replacements of the DVDs I owned.. though considering I bought them twice, I probably should, huh?
1. For those who are wondering I celebrate Solstice.
2. It’s been known to happen.

Wow you got so many nice presents this year! I go overboard on the giving and receiving too when I am financially able. It was so upsetting that I couldn’t buy anyone anything this year – even my husband. But being in NZ with him was a gift enough.
I hope you had a wonderful holiday!
