Who Needs School When You Have Work?

Jul 29, 2011
Who Needs School When You Have Work?

This month should have been a pretty exciting month for me. I finished school so I assumed that with that out of the way I’d be able to at the very least start resuming some of the hobbies I was forced to stop due to school. Well, I was wrong– very, very wrong.

In lieu of school, work has picked up by A LOT. Where I should be working 40 hours a week, I’m working at least 50-60 depending on what craziness is going on or if I have to come in early to manage the queue and make sure we meet our metrics. I’m exhausted and honestly the only thing I want to do is run far, far away. I feel like I’m always at my computer which bodes very badly for Veracity because the absolutely LAST thing I want to do after I manage to stop working for the night is sit at my computer.

Thing should ease up in September however that’s already a month and a half of “free” time I have lost. I just feel like if it’s not something it’s something else and no matter what I do, I can’t ever just have a break. Case and point, Robby and I decided to replace the carpet with laminate flooring in the loft. The plan was that I would order the flooring and the underlayment today but that has been postponed because the car is making funny sounds so he wants to get it checked which means the awesome, awesome desk we got to replace my current desk is still sitting un-assembled in the spare bedroom. Like I said, I CANNOT win and at this point I’m about to give up.

To add to my already wonderful issues, I found out a few days ago that the server all of my sites were hosted on was quickly overloading due to the load being placed on it. After some research it was discovered that we needed additional ram, which is all fine a dandy but that ram was going to cost $200 and well, does it look like I have that kind of cash laying around? Not likely. I had gotten to the point where I started looking into other dedicated server despite the fact that I really did not want to give up my managed hosting and really did not want to consider building my own server and seeking some colocation management. So as a last resort I reached out to the members of Veracity to see if they would be able to chip in. A few awesome individuals did so and now we have a brand, new spanking server with enough ram and the right specs to deal with the load on the server. I can’t even being to express my sincerest thanks to the individuals who helped out with this issue– it means so much.

All and all despite all the issues at work and the lack of time for really anything, this week has been better than the past few. I’m just tired and in desperate need of a vacation or at least a mini-break but unfortunately, I don’t expect that is going to happen any time soon– much to my annoyance.

I Want An iPad!

Jul 29, 2011
I Want An iPad!

I have always had a thing for Gadgets and I’ll be the first to admit I’m not usually the most patient individual when it comes to new ones either but I have learned with time that it’s generally best if you wait until after the first release of something new to avoid any bugs or kinks within the software. I mean it just makes sense right? So when the iPad came out, I’ll be honest while I thought it was neat, I didn’t really have much interest in it. A large part of that is because I’m not huge on Apple products so I wasn’t gunning to get one and for the most part, I’m still not, expect for one awesome thing: aNote.

Yes, a application has been scouring the internet for Apple Store promo codes so I can get an iPad because it looks so neat. I really have Mrs. Naco to think for this because she made a really pretty calendar note thing for Veracity‘s blog-a-thon next month. Now I probably won’t get one but donations are welcome and hey, it means I don’t actually have to be on my computer after work so it might mean I’m around more often at the very least.

Plus being able to search for Orbitz promotion code while I’m laying in bed and actually really laying in bed would be freaking fabulous. I can has iPad?

Country Music Awards

Country Music Awards

I love to watch the Country Music Awards every single year. I am not the biggest fan of country music, but there are a few top names that I love watching perform on this awards show. I also love to see what the country stars wear to this awards ceremony. Lastly, I just love country singers for their kindness to one another, so this is also a reason that I am drawn to this program every year. This is definitely one of the best programs to watch for seeing one’s top names in country music, such as Taylor Swift or Carrie Underwood.

I watch the CMA’s on my satellite television from http://www.directstartv.com all the time. One of my favorite most recent shows featured Carrie Underwood as a host. She was absolutely phenomenal. She has such a down to earth way about her, and she is just an all around beautiful person. I truly admire her kindness to other people, and her ability to connect with anyone. I think she is one of the most talented people in the country music industry right now. I also enjoyed watching Taylor Swift perform on this show. I thought she did fabulous and was awesome.

I simply love Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. I can only hope they continue their success so they keep performing on this great country music awards show!

YouTube MySpace & I'll Google Your Yahoo

Have you ever found a video or clip that you absolutely loved on YouTube and were disappointed that there was no download option for the video? I think we’ve all been in that position and short of finding software which isn’t one hundred percent consistent in obtaining the FLV file, there isn’t a lot of options. Plus there’s the added frustration of trying to find additional software to convert the FLV file into another format which your computer can render. If I lost you—then read on.

Finally there is a very easy to use, very powerful video converter software that allows you not only to download FLV files from YouTube, but it also allows you to convert them as well! Yes, ladies and gents there is a YouTube to Video Converter that makes it possible to download a YouTube video that you just have to have. The best part is that it is sooo easy to use!

First thing is first, download free YouTube downloader and then install it. Once you install it, you have the option of either putting in a URL of the YouTube video you want to download, visiting the YouTube website and searching for a video and clicking the download button or you can select a file on your computer to convert. Once you’ve figured out what file you want to convert, you can choose from several different conversion formats that is compatible with iPods, iPhones, iPads—even your Xbox just to name a few. After that the rest is history!

Years ago, I lost a very important video which I had uploaded to YouTube but had no way to download. Now I am pleased to say I have successfully, downloaded and converted the following video so that I can show it off on my iPhone and I couldn’t be happier!

If you’re looking for software that will allow you to download and convert YouTube videos at ease—then I definitely encourage you to check it out. You will NOT be disappointed!

Robby & His Toys

Jul 20, 2011
Robby & His Toys

Robby has always been a man who is all about the toys. When I say toys, I mean gizmo and gadgets and things that go boom! For the most part I don’t mind it because I know he will never go out and spend a ton of money on this stuff– he hates spending but there are times we he gets crazy ideas in his head.

The latest? A hammock. Yup, you read that right. To which I had to very politely point out that he basically wanted it because it sounded neat, similar to the time he wanted the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 prestige edition. The night goggles that come with it are no steiner binoculars but he was willing to settle and I just knew he’d think it was cool for all of twenty minutes before he got bored. Thank goodness I was able to talk him out of that and thank goodness I was able to do the same with the hammock.

Now don’t get me wrong. I love my husband and as long as I know he’s not lusting out of something for the cool factor and will actually use it for more than twenty minutes, I am totally cool with him buying these toys. But more often then not he wants it because it’s cool and let’s face it– what sane wife would let her husband spend hundreds of dollars on something he’s bound to use only once, maybe twice if you’re lucky?

Yup, that’s exactly what I thought.
