I’ll be the first to admit that it is a little disheartening to see such a large support base for the “mommy” bloggers out there and so little for people such as myself who don’t have kids or fall under the stereotypical “mommy” blogger subset.
Even worse is when I’m overlooked by companies because I choose to wait until I was financially able to have kids– not saying that those who are mommies now, didn’t do that, but the point still stands, regardless.
If I’m not a mom, I’m not what their looking for. Next applicant.
I have absolutely nothing against mommy bloggers. In fact my best friend is a mommy– though she doesn’t classify herself as a “mommy” blogger and I wouldn’t either but what I do have a problem with is the fact that I seem to be deemed unworthy by companies and blogcentric websites who seem to be much more focused on the mommy demographic EVEN if that is not what the site or the product relates to.
It’s frustrating and if I’m honest quite belittling. I can only imagine how those who are having difficulties trying to conceive must feel based on my feelings in situations where it seems I’m just not good enough because I’m not expecting or because I don’t already have children.
When I go to a website where there’s a category specifically set aside for mommies and find nothing to acknowledge those like myself who are either single or married and non-babied it infuriates me because it feels like they’re saying “You’re not wanted. Non-parents not allowed.”
Does my voice– our voice matter so little?
I respect all bloggers, moms, dads, single or married individuals– babied or not and I acknowledge that we all need a place where we connect based on similar interests and mindsets, a support group that can relate on the same level– so why is it that those who aren’t parents aren’t afforded the same? Do we not feel frustration? Do we not struggle with our lives on a day to day basis? Or is it that since we do not have children we can’t even begin to comprehend what a bad day must feel like?
I may not have a baby strapped to my back and I may not have plans for one any time soon but you know what?
My voice counts too.

I know I have this nasty habit of disappearing for lengths of time and the only updates I post are paid blogs which understandably a lot of people are turned off from and as a result I tend to lose the interest of even my semi-casual readers Well now that school is finally over I figured it’s time to really put some effort into taking care of my blog and networking. When I was younger I used to be so good at it and now–well now I’m lazy and hardly return comments, though I do appreciate every one I get.
Anyway, to kick off this new desire to try and actually care about my blog, form a reader base, and hopefully find some awesome bloggers that I can relate to and get to know, I am holding TQB’s second ever giveaway!
As many of those who actually keep up with me know, I have a slight, okay HUGE obsession with True Blood and it pretty much dominates a small portion of my life. For those who have not yet watched or were turned off by the first episode, I admit that I was too. After the episode was over I had a WTF expression on my face and decided to read the books to make sure the director had not in fact gone crazy and that helped me to really appreciate the show and understand it in its entirety. All I can say is give it a chance– it might surprise you.

Robby and I have decided to begin renovating the house and I am so excited! We are starting small and pulling out the carpet in the loft and replacing it with laminate wood flooring. It’s going to be awesome! I think after that we may start to focus on the kitchen.
First off we need to actually finish painting it. We got the paint ages ago but have yet to paint the kitchen. Part of it is lack of time. It’s going to require moving the fridge out of there and then obviously allow it to dry—so yeah kind of have to plan how we are going to manage it. Once we’re done with the kitchen though I really want to re-evaluate the layout of our kitchen.
First we are considering changing out our sink and replacing it with an Undermount Kitchen Sink. I don’t know much about Undermount Kitchen Sinks but I plan on doing some research. We want to knock the bar out so I can put an island in the kitchen—or at the very least knock the bar further out so putting in an island won’t take up all the space.
Obviously we are going to have to sit down and really figure out how we want to remodel the house—but I’m excited that we’re finally taking the initiative and beginning these rennovations!

I have to say that I am pretty impressed with how far technology has come in regards to datacenters. Years ago the internet was not known to every single household or business and as a result, individuals had to commute to and from data locations for any hands on management. Now with the turn of events in technology everything can be assessed in an online data room which really helps in localization services for those who may not have the time to go to an actual datacenter site.
I was really impressed upon reviewing Merrill’s Datasite as they have seemed to really focus on acquisition due diligence and methods which are convenient to those who need their services. In addition to that a virtual data room can be up and running in two hours or less and given the fact that so many now a days believe time is of the essence, this feature online is a HUGE highlight for small business owners as well as corporations.
Lastly and most importantly they do not outsource their hosting as they understand the importance of confidentiality which is a huge concern for many business owners. All in all I am quite impressed with the services that Merrill Datasite offers. They are professional as well as personable, both aspects important in the business world past, present, and future.

It has been ONE exhausting day. After getting up today at 4:20 because I had work at 4:45am, we left the house around 7:00 after turning on our home security northport and then headed up about an hour to pick up a desk that turned out to be totally worth it!
Part of the problem though was that we had to fully disassemble the desk so that it would fit and then Robby had to strap the top of the desk to the roof of the Jeep to get it all to fit. Oh man what a night! We just got home about 53 minutes ago after unloading the Jeep and bringing most of the pieces upstairs.
Now Robby is sitting down on the coach watching TV via Direct TV and I’m going to head to bed since I have to be up fairly early tomorrow– think 4:20 in the morning. I am beat!
Let’s pray tomorrow is a fairly easy day– otherwise I’m probably going to cry. *yawns*
