XBOX Wasn’t For Me– And Then There Was Netflix Streaming

Oct 15, 2010
xbox-wasnt-for-me-and-then-there-was-netflix-streaming

I will be the first to admit that I’ve never been a huge fan of Microsoft’s xbox. I despise the controls and the only game that I’ve ever been successful in playing is Fable and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Maybe that’s pathetic but it’s true. I was raised as a Playstation girl and as a result the XBOX xbox just never suited me.

However with the introduction of Netflix streaming, I find that I now have a use for it and actually use it quite often. The best part is that I don’t have to use the controller to control it because I have an xbox remote which makes navigation so much easier. The only complaint I have about the Netflix instant queue on the xbox system is that it doesn’t have a search function and as a result you have to go through every single title placed in your queue to find the one you want. I am hoping that they will upgrade the feature soon to make it more user friendly.

In any event now that the xbox has Netflix streaming, I have found more of a use for it and use it much to the duress of Robby when he’s interested in using it when I am. :)

Maybe In The Distant Future, Things Will Change

Aug 23, 2010
maybe-in-the-distant-future-things-will-change

One of the problems Robby and I had when it came to the iPhone and AT&T is that iphone insurance was not available through the carrier. I’m sorry but at the time we weren’t willing to commit to spending over $600 on a phone without the possibility of insuring it.

Now sure it is true we had the option to find another means to insure it, but you would think such a high profile item would be something that the carrier would want to insure, which wasn’t the case. However, even despite the insurance, originally that wasn’t the reason we shied away to begin with. After testing it out from, I realized I could not for the life of me stand the keyboard and so I had no interest in the phone at all.

Flash forward to a few years letter when it seems Apple has finally gotten their act together and made a phone that is useable. I tried it, loved it, and sought out my own, but ultimately ended up switching to a MyTouch because of the fact that my version was unlocked and jailbroken and I didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t utilize 3G.

Here’s to hoping that eventually Apple will expand the list of carriers they currently have and maybe, maybe then I’ll consider going back.

Men + Electronics = Pain In My Ass

Aug 19, 2010
men-electronics-pain-in-my-ass

Recently Robby and I discussed what to do about his computer because he hardly ever uses it. Usually he defaults to his tablet because that’s what he uses for school so his desktop kind of just sits there.

Some of the options we considered was getting him a gaming laptop for his games and also an iPad. The problem we faced with the iPad is that he can’t really use it for school because it wouldn’t really be feasible to use the touch pad to write a paper and as of now we don’t think there are any ipad accessories that have a full keyboard.

Given the options, it’s either he keeps the desktop and uses it occasionally or we can get the gaming laptop which he can still utilize for his papers and the iPad or we skip the iPad and he just utilizes the gaming laptop for everything. We’re still not sure at this point what direction we want to go. The gaming laptop seems to be the most obvious because it encompasses all his needs, but he really, really wants an iPad.

Ugh, why are men so fucking difficulty? Pick one and be happy with it. You don’t need both, amirite?

It’s A Bit Anal Retentive, But It Works!

Aug 19, 2010
its-a-bit-anal-retentive-but-it-works

I’ve always been HUGE on document management. It is particularly important given that I manage several documents because of school and losing a single document could result in being late on an assignment which just isn’t okay.

How do I manage my documents? Folders! Folders are your friends. I have a specific folder labeled as School and in that folder are sub-folders for each of the classes that I’m taken or have taken. Within those folders are folders labeled Assignments so that I will never run into any issues trying to locate an assignment that is due.

On top of that I have another sub-folder labeled Text which contains all of the PDFs that are sections of my text which are necessary to complete my assignments. It might sound like a lot BUT to be honest it’s such a time saver. I don’t have to ever utilize the search function on windows nor do I ever freak out wondering where an assignment has gone or where a piece of text has gone in the midst of completely an assignment.

So here’s my question for you—how do you manage your documents on your computer? Why do you utilize that method or methods?

My Husband Loves Me Cause I’m A G33K

Jul 30, 2010
my-husband-loves-me-cause-im-a-g33k

One of the reasons Robby loves me so much is I’m not one of those females who wants or needs Prada handbags. In fact I’m much more content with the latest piece of tech than anything that a lot of girls I grew up with own.

For instance, I am currently absolutely excited to be getting a new mouse to fit my gaming needs. The must itself is soooo smexy, that I am seriously contemplating having babies with it. No, seriously it’s that’s AWESOME.

The mouse that I’m going to be getting is the Razer Naga. It has 17 mouse buttons that I can bind when playing and given that I rolled a Holy Priest in WoW and also have Cleric in Aion, this mouse is going to be soooo awesome and useful when it comes to my healing spells.

I know that my geekiness has come out feel force, but I can’t help it. I seriously cannot wait to get my hands on it and you can bet when I do that I’m probably going to piss myself1. Yes, ladies and gents it’s that’s fucking awesome.

Seriously, if you don’t believe me go check it out? Believe me now?

1. Okay, maybe not literally, but figueratively?

Another Day, Another Game of Aion

Jun 24, 2010
another-day-another-game-of-aion

I can’t say I’ll be very entertaining in this blog, merely because I’m writing this quickly before bed so I can ensure that I have made my daily blog. I’m actually pretty proud of myself for being able to blog each day this month without missing a day, even though there have been nights when I’ve crawled into bed and had to crawl back out, after remembering I had not blogged. It was irritating but I pushed myself nonetheless.

I have been playing lots of Aion lately and I feel bad because I feel as if I am neglecting Jenn which isn’t my intent AT all. I think in large part she believes that if we’re video chatting while I’m playing she’s distracting me which isn’t true AT all and to be honest that’s one of the features I love about my new desktop. Having the capability to play a pretty graphics intensive game and still video chat at the same time. :)

Tomorrow I am going to look at power supplies with Robby to try and find one that is suitable for her to utilize the graphics card I intend on giving her. Once she gets her brother to install both the video card and power supply, we’ll be good to go and she can join us in the fun. It’s going to be soooo epic and I cannot wait! Speaking of which, I rolled another toon today, lol. I grouped with a Chanter today and saw all the fun spells he had so I decided I wanted one of my own. Least to say I think I have a problem because in one day I hit level 13. :P

Tomorrow, I am going to work on my Cleric some and then probably switch to my Chanter at night. This weekend I will probably work on leveling my Gladiator. Geeze, I don’t know how I manage to keep up! Haha. Okay, I think that’s enough game talk for tonight. Time to get some sleep so I can be up and alert tomorrow to walk the pups. G’nite!
