Weekly Theme: Photo a Day
Daily Prompt: Show us your dream house! Either draw it, find a picture of it, or compile a picture of it through an editing program. Why is it your dream house?
I honestly don’t think I really need to say why this is my dream home– the picture says it all! Enjoy!

Robby and I have decided to begin renovating the house and I am so excited! We are starting small and pulling out the carpet in the loft and replacing it with laminate wood flooring. It’s going to be awesome! I think after that we may start to focus on the kitchen.
First off we need to actually finish painting it. We got the paint ages ago but have yet to paint the kitchen. Part of it is lack of time. It’s going to require moving the fridge out of there and then obviously allow it to dry—so yeah kind of have to plan how we are going to manage it. Once we’re done with the kitchen though I really want to re-evaluate the layout of our kitchen.
First we are considering changing out our sink and replacing it with an Undermount Kitchen Sink. I don’t know much about Undermount Kitchen Sinks but I plan on doing some research. We want to knock the bar out so I can put an island in the kitchen—or at the very least knock the bar further out so putting in an island won’t take up all the space.
Obviously we are going to have to sit down and really figure out how we want to remodel the house—but I’m excited that we’re finally taking the initiative and beginning these rennovations!

One of the first fixtures I notice when I’m in someone’s house is their door handles. Obviously I am not really familiar with the names like a Schlage door handle, but I think they do make an expression. I find that for the most part I’m not a huge fan of gold door handles– but then again, I’m not really a fan of gold. If I had to choose between gold or silver, I’d go with silver and if I do have to choose gold it’s usually a white gold.
As far as fixtures go, the next thing I notice when I’m in someone’s house or just house hunting are the type of fixtures used for the bathroom and kitchen. Whether it’s the style of the faucet or the faucet handles, they do tend to catch my eye. I’m not so into gaudy very ornate handles and I find that I enjoy simple and sleek the best. There’s just something about the minimalism in fixtures that speaks to me. Is anyone else like this? Or is this just some odd quirk that I have among the other billions I’ve managed to pick up? Either way, simple, sleek, minimal, and non-gold works best for me. What about you?

Anyone who owns a home can tell you it has both it’s upsides and downsides. The upside is having the ability to make modification without needed approval. For instance painting, adding shelves, etc. The downsides is having to repair things you normally wouldn’t have to worry about. For instance, we just recently discovered that our garbage disposal is having issues so tomorrow I get to call the manufacturer and figure out if the system is still warrantied since we both the house last year but the system was purchased in 2008. I have a feeling it won’t be and that will be yet another item on our list to have to fix. Fun right? No not really.
Another plus side is not having to worry about paying costly pet deposits or pet rent. It really makes things easier for it. But along with that comes the downside of having to worry about proper home ventilation, which could lead to very HIGH electricity bills. That is not fun. So yes, while it’s true only a home is great, at the some time it has negatives as well. Now would I ever consider going back to renting after owning my own home, even with all of the additional cost? Not a chance in hell.

Not too long ago- okay who am I kidding it was 3 years ago- Robby and I almost ended up with a spa. I say almost because there were obviously complications and as a result we ended up having to pass on what he thought was a really great deal1.
In any event when he and the boys when to go retrieve said spa, they discovered it wasn’t going to be that easy and that we’d have to go shopping for spa covers because one wasn’t included. Why wasn’t it as easy as they thought?
Simple, because a nest of bees had decided to make it their home and after evaluating the situation, they all decided it was probably a better idea to not press their luck- which ironically was a good idea considering Robby is allergic- though we didn’t discover this until later; but that’s another story entirely.
In any event, we came mighty close to owning a spa, though in hindsight it was probably best that we didn’t because it wasn’t a spa that actually worked and money would have had to be put into the unit to fix it up. Robby thinks it’s a bad thing, but I think it was for the best.
1. I say “he thought was a good idea” because let’s face it, most men’s ideas are not.
