I didn’t get the chance to blog about this because I’ve been busy with work and school but we put the tree up! I actually put it up the day after Thanksgiving as I figured it was in my best interest to be proactive about it instead of waiting until last minute and then not wanting to do it– and I am pleased with the results. Though honestly we actually had to take it down and put it back up again because it crooked and unstable but the final result is fab! I love my tree, I love the colors we settled on and just the overall feel of it. It’s funny because you’d think we’d spent so much money on decorations and such but we didn’t. We ALWAYS take advantage of the post-Christmas sales when it comes to decorations and wrapping paper, bows, etc so everything is very, very costly for us. Definitely recommend it to those who want to increase the amount of decorations they have and not to spend a ton on wrapping paper, bows, etc.
Anyway, I am pretty much finished with my Solstice shopping. I have one more present to get Robby which I will get him on Tuesday and then after that it’s just a waiting game for all the other gifts I got to come in. I still have to send a gift out to a close friend of mine and I’ll probably have Robby stop by the post office to do that on Monday or sometime next week and I also have to get a gift for my little sister, but I already know what it’s gonna be so I’m not too worried about that. I’m pretty ecstatic about everything that I got and everything I got others. It’s just a nice feeling to be able to do something for someone else. I guess I just like the feeling of gratitude I get when I give something to someone who doesn’t expect it. It’s great.
On another note I plan to attempt Gingerbread cookies this year again. Last year didn’t go so well and I think it’s because the recipe I had sucked. The recipe I’m using this year I pulled for FoodNetwork.com so I’m hoping that yields better results. If you have your own gingerbreakd cookie recipe that works well for you, please share it with me! I want to be able to successfully make gingerbread cookies without hiccups this year, wish me luck!

I had originally anticipated having the new site up on New Year’s Day, however due to unforeseen consequences, that didn’t happen. In any event, welcome to the new website! Not a whole lot has changed from my prior site, but I feel this site in its entirety is completely me. WishfulDrinking.Org was me for a time, however last year was a year I spent regaining all that I had lost in 2008 and rebuilding a marriage that had come close to being destroyed. It wasn’t easy and it was definitely a lot of work, but it was well worth it. I am grateful for the man I have in my life. He is what keeps me going and the person who picks me up when I fall. I love him so much.
Solstice was pretty mellow. It was just Robby and I this year, however it was nice. We haven’t really had a Solstice with gift giving, but this year I went all out to make sure we were able to. I got Robby a few presents that he adored and I bought myself a ton of DVDs. I know it’s strange that I purchased my own presents but I despise surprises and Robby isn’t the greatest with gift giving, lol. He takes things a little bit too seriously. It’s cute though. All in all, I feel like I came out on top. I got a lot of DVDs that I needed and they were all for a great price… plus a Wii, which admittedly I haven’t played in awhile but that’s due to the fact that I have been working some crazy, crazy hours. Robby and I talked and both agreed that we want to pay of our credit cards prior to having kids so I’m on a mission to pay them off by next year. It’s going to be hard but I think we can do it if we budget correctly and start utilizing coupons when we shop. I’m also considering picking up a second job at the Walmart down the street. It probably means I won’t be around as often, but if it gets us closer to being debt free credit card wise then it will be worth it. I doubt Robby will look at it that way though. =( Oh well, you have to do what you have to do.
School started up this Monday and I have another week to go before I finish this class, but I am starting up the IT class I ended up dropping next week. I’m hoping if I only have that class to focus on I’ll do better then I did before. I think for the most part I have a better footing then those who are just taking it for the first time, but I’m still going to try and get in touch with my instructor for extra help, etc. I hope I’m able to pull a good grade this time around. We’ll have to see though.
We’ll I’m off to watch some TV and get some sleep. I haven’t been sleeping well lately so I’m trying to catch up on as much as possible. We’ll see how that pans out though– I’m not thinking so well.
