My Ideal Vacation Spot

Aug 15, 2011

Weekly Theme: Photo a Day
Daily Prompt: Show us your ideal vacation spot. Why is this your ideal vacation spot?

I have been to Hawaii once before1 and I can tell you that hands down of all the places I have ever been to it is the most magical, most breath taking location. It was strange to feel like I was on a completely different planet even though I wasn’t really that far from home.

We confessed our undying love for each other in Hawaii so it will ALWAYS be special to me.

  1. Well at least when I could truly appreciate it. We visited when I was younger but I don’t remember much.

A Vacation Sounds Just Grand– Too Bad I Can’t Afford One!

Aug 8, 2010
a-vacation-sounds-just-grand-too-bad-i-cant-afford-one

While I admit fully that I’m a baby when it comes to the cold, that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to at least see and experience snow. I doubt that I could be truly happy living in a place that snows every year, but it wouldn’t hurt to visit or have a cabin some place where I could visit right?

One of the places I’ve always wanted to go because I’ve heard wonderful things about it is Colorado. I think it would be awesome to be able to go up there and check out the Frisco Colorado lodging and all the sights. I know that it’s so random to pick Colorado of all places to visit given that I’ve never been, but I’ve just heard some lovely things about it.

So what brought this whole conversation on? Robby and I were talking about how much he’d loved to live in Flagstaff and I suggested we buy a cabin up there to which he said was completely preposterous, because it’s just too expensive. He’s right but thinking on it, we really haven’t had a vacation in like… ever, lol. So I think it would be cool to check out some Breckenridge rental homes or Breckenridge vacation rentals, so we can actually have a vacation.

I know that it’s not something that’s completely feasible right now—but who knows maybe one day?

A Vacation or Maybe Two?

Jul 30, 2010
a-vacation-or-maybe-two

You know for the longest time, when I was younger I thought it would be absolutely wonderful to go on a Paris private tour. I had a fascination with the bright lights and just the entire romantic concept of the place.

All of that changed when I heard from people that it wasn’t the greatest place in the world to be. A lot of people talked about the stench of the place and the overpowering smell; however after Robby’s visit, and his proclamation that isn’t the case at all, I do have a renewed interest in visiting Paris though not before I take one of the walking tours in London.

I have ALWAYS wanted to visit London just given the history behind it and even though I realize I’ll probably have to sell my soul to afford a London private tour or London walking tours for that matter , I am totally and one hundred percent okay with that!

Overall if I had my choice between Paris or London, I would definitely pick London—though in all honestly I’d like to have the opportunity to see both, though strangely enough if I had to pick between Paris, London, or Hawaii—Hawaii would win hand’s down. I love that place.

My Wish Was Granted, In A Manner of Speaking

Jun 22, 2010
my-wish-was-granted-in-a-manner-of-speaking

You know it’s a little interesting how the Universe seems to just know when to make things right. It’s also a little bit disconcerting if I think on it a lot, but I’ve always been raised to count my blessings and so I am.

In my previous post, I spoke about a friend in dire need of someone to just be there for her physically. She’s in a long distance relationship with her husband (I do not envy the life of a military wife) so despite the façade she puts on, she’s beyond lonely and the hurt she feels every day if spoken would speak volumes; and while our daily video chats were helping, it can only do so much before that bitter taste of loneliness settles in once more.

Today when I awoke, I checked out SlickDeals which is generally the case every day and the very first post was that Southwest was having a deal on airline tickets to commemorate their birthday. The only catch? I had to book by Thursday. Obviously this was an issue because we have not yet gotten paid but after looking at flights and seeing how incredibly cheap they were and the fact that I wouldn’t have to take time off if I went (minus the day I fly out), I talked to Robby about it and my loving, understanding husband agreed to let me put the ticket on the credit card and fly out in September.

First of all, I am beyond excited and while it’s true that I already feel like I have met Jenn, it will be nice to actually meet her. Does that make sense? Plus there is the fact that we only spent $180 for a roundtrip ticket which makes it even better! That’s cheaper then what I spent to see Danika nearly 3 years ago, though if I’m honest that was still a really good deal.

So yes, this year is turning out phenomenally! Danika will be here in a few days (ZOMG, Robby flies out in 11 days), Robby got promoted and with that a raise, I made another awesome friend who I’ve grown really close to in a short period of time and consider my bestie (which is rare for those who know me), my sister is out here this summer, and now I get to meet my bestie.

I’m on cloud nine and so fucking lucky.

It’s okay, I’d be jealous too.

A Visit to San Francisco? Maybe, in the Future!

Jun 20, 2010
a-visit-to-san-francisco-maybe-in-the-future

The last time I visited San Franscisco, I was very young and naive. I wasn’t aware of the “reputation” the city had and probably wouldn’t have cared much either. I know that I wasn’t a fan of the steep streets and they freaked me out!

After a lot of thought and because I’ve heard good things about Castro, I’m thinking about talking with a few friends of mine who are gay to see if they’d be interested in taking a trip up there. I think it will be so much fun and a great experience all together.

Obviously this will have to wait until AFTER Danika gets out here and is settled and I probably want to wait until my little sister is gone as well– but I’m pretty excited to be considering a trip to San Francisco. I just know that the last time I was there I loved Fisherman’s Warf, so I think that will definitely be one of our stops when we visit!

And Just When I Thought I’d Finally Gotten Past It

Mar 23, 2010
and-just-when-i-thought-id-finally-gotten-past-it

I’ve been feeling pretty frustrated for some reason, though I’m not sure why. I think it’s sheer frustration that I had done so well on getting out of the funk that had over come me in January and February, that the fact its back just makes me want to scream. I have not been quite this bad before and it’s taking its toll. Usually, I go months before succumbing to the need to re-energize but lately it’s been every few weeks. I think Robby and I just need to go someplace together sometime soon to get out of the house. I don’t mind being a homebody in the least, but I think it’s really starting to effect me and working at home really isn’t helping. I’m going to look at some places to check out in Sedona and plan a weekend getaway with Robby. I think that will help immensely.

So last Monday my class from hell ended and thanks to the help of Robby, I was able to barely pull a B-. When I say barely, I mean barely. 80.3%. I’m grateful though because it means my GPA didn’t tank which I figured it would, after that hell class. In any event I’m glad it’s over and at least one of the classes revolves more around what I’m interested in: image editing. I still have a bit of ways to go to complete my Bachelor’s but I feel like I’m finally making progress, now that I’m getting further into the core of my program. It’s actually very refreshing.

I’ve been watching a lot of shows lately– well, really just marathoning shows I own. I just got done with Bones and now I’m on to Charmed, as I never made it through the entire series. This is also how I know that my funk is coming back. I tend to focus my attention on TV shows and often avoid the internet; so for those who’ve noticed I haven’t been on AIM/MSN/YIM lately or haven’t been as talkative, that’s the reason. It has nothing to do with anyone just that I’m slipping into a funk and trying to get out. In any event, keep talking to me if you can. Even if I’m unresponsive. It will help.

Well I’m off to watch a little more Charmed and working on my homework. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully a better day.
